Sean Pressley is a Brooklyn-based photographer and multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between documentary clarity and expressionist painting. A self-taught creative with over twelve years in New York City, he has photographed politicians, cultural figures, and everyday New Yorkers for publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, and Bloomberg Businessweek. Parallel to his editorial career, Pressley’s studio practice explores Black identity, comfort, and narrative through figurative painting infused with abstraction, text, and layered symbolism. His dual practice—rooted in both observation and introspection—shapes a visual language that is immediate, intimate, and distinctly his own.
